Learning is a continuous process. No one can stop until you stop learning
-Swami Vivekanand
Babuji’s views on education were not limited to acquiring knowledge. Instead, he was of the opinion that education can not only bring social transformation but also develop a person’s mind, soul, and spirit. He was of the opinion that real education means drawing out the best hidden talents in the students. He believed that the main aim of education is to develop character, mental strength, and a spirit of philanthropy. His philosophy was deeply based on the principles of equality and social justice. He envisaged an educational institution where all segments of society, along with economically weaker students, can fulfill their dreams of attaining education without any impediments. His aim was to build a platform that enabled students to get higher education without leaving their hometown, thereby nurturing local talent and strengthening the community from within. Babu Ji recognized the value of an educational environment and succeeded in the integration of radical academic programs to ensure the college’s leading role in academic excellence. He propounded for a holistic approach, acknowledging the relevance of infusing academic awareness with social and political consciousness. He was a guiding force for his students, encouraging them to follow their civic duty. He infused in them an enthusiasm to engage themselves wholeheartedly and make a significant contribution to their communities. His untiring commitment to education, social service, and the empowerment of youth remained a persistent effort throughout his life. Even in his absence, the impact of his vision flourished, motivating countless people. His vision acts as footprints, leading the way towards education, empowerment, and advancement for coming generations. Post Graduate Degree College in Ghazipur carries forward his unwavering commitment by pursuing the goal of making education accessible and dynamic.
Late Rajeshwar Prasad Singh was born in Purvanchal and was affectionately known as Babuji. He was a true visionary and karma yogi who was sincerely dedicated to the mission of nurturing community development through the power of education. He laid the foundation of Post Graduate Degree College, Ghazipur, in 1957, with merely 22 students and 5 lecturers. Babuji firmly rooted his philosophy in the principles of social justice. He was a pioneer educator, a passionate advocate for spirituality, and a dedicated social worker. In spite of all difficulties and challenges in the educational fields, he did not ignore his family’s responsibilities. He pursued his education at Allahabad University and began his legal career at Ghazipur Civil Court in 1951. He dedicated two to three years to ruminating on the new environment before engaging himself in public life. In 1954, he, along with six friends and co-workers, established the “Vichar Vimarsh Samiti” with the aim of establishing a Post-Graduate Degree College in Ghazipur. In the face of a predominant and regressive mindset, Degree College Ghazipur emerged in 1957, a testament to his unwavering efforts. The college appointed Babuji as a secretary and manager, acknowledging his dedication, hard work, and commitment to service. Babu Ji comprehended the essence of various subjects like English, technical education, and modern science in elevating marginalized communities. He also made an effort to integrate all subjects within the educational framework. He set up the path for progressive enhancements by creating peace and harmony within the society. His professional management skills were seen at a number of places, such as Adarsh Inter College, Vikas Nigam Ghazipur, Divine Heart Medical Centre, Ghazipur Grih Nirman Samiti, Vivekanand Pustakalaya, Rahi Masoom Raza Creation and Research Institute, Postgraduate College Ghazipur, and Rajarshi Shishu Mandir. His sister’s concerns are also dynamic—filled with enthusiasm and continuously pursuing higher accomplishments. Under his guidance, two homeopathic colleges were established in Ravindrapuri and Ghazipur. People in the twenty-first century believed that without computer knowledge, they would not be tech-savvy and would lag behind in technical advancement. Keeping this notion in his mind, Babuji established the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ghazipur to provide opportunities to empower farmers and enhance modern agricultural practices. He also reconstructed a library at the Civil Bar Association in Ghazipur. His remarkable accomplishments are not only confined to academics and technology but also in various aspects like health, disaster relief, social upliftment, culture, and job creation. He earned recognition and reverence for his remarkable achievements, which conferred on him the entitlements like “Gazipur Gaurav” and “Jewel of India.” Babuji’s consistent, groundbreaking, and unwavering efforts led to remarkable outcomes. His strong beliefs not only shaped his existence but also nurtured his various concerns, leading it to a zenith of success. Despite being an intellectual and reaching new heights, his behaviour toward all segments of society remains neutral and unbiased. His remarkable legacy set an example for the entire local community. Babuji’s steadfast resolution and dedication established an academic institution, which led to the enhancement and upliftment of Ghazipur province. He played a significant role in instilling an aspirational and innovative spirit in young minds.
Best wishes
